Western Tour Itinerary

Day 1 · 65 km · 1 hour

Arrival in Paro · Transfer to Thimphu

Meet your local guide at Paro International Airport and follow the scenic valley road to Thimphu at 2,648m. Check in, acclimatize, explore a neighborhood café, and enjoy a first Bhutanese dinner with Ema Datshi and red rice.

Day 2 · 75 km · 3–4 hours

Thimphu sightseeing · Punakha

Visit the National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma, Folk Heritage Museum, and Tashichho Dzong. Cross Dochula Pass and pause among its 108 chortens for Himalayan views and Bhutanese tea before descending to Punakha.

Day 3 · 6–7 hours

Gangtey & Wangdue excursion

Explore Gangtey Monastery and walk the nature trail through Phobjikha Valley, winter home of endangered black-necked cranes. Continue to historic Wangdue Phodrang before returning to Punakha.

Day 4 · 150 km · 5 hours

Punakha sightseeing · Paro

Discover Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu, cross the suspension bridge, and walk through village fields to Chimi Lhakhang. Return west to Paro through changing landscapes.

Day 5 · 4 km · 3,120m

Tiger's Nest hike · Paro

Climb through pine forest to cliffside Paro Taktsang, pausing at the viewpoint café. Explore sacred temples and meditation caves, then visit the National Museum, Rinpung Dzong, and ancient Kyichu Lhakhang.

Day 6 · Paro International Airport

Departure

After breakfast, your guide and driver arrange the short airport transfer, assist with luggage, and bid you farewell.
