Day 1
Arrival to Samdrup Jongkhar from Guwahati
A three-hour morning drive from Guwahati, capital of Assam, reaches Bhutan's border at Samdrup Jongkhar for immigration formalities.
Day 2
Samdrup Jongkhar to Trashigang
Ascend all day into the Himalayas. Receive a hermit's blessing, visit Zangto Pelri Lhakhang and its detailed murals, then discover Khaling's National Handloom Development Project. Visit the National Institute for the Visually Impaired, Draktsho East, Sherubtse College, and a temple in nearby Kanglung village.
Day 3
Trashigang to Trashiyangtse
Begin at 17th-century Trashigang Dzong, then drive to Gom Kora, where Guru Padmasambhava left his body imprint. Explore old Trashiyangtse Dzong, Chorten Kora, and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where young people keep Bhutan's traditional arts alive. Return to Trashigang in the evening.
Day 4
Trashigang to Mongar
Detour to Dramtse Gompa, birthplace of the UNESCO-recognized Drums of Dramtse mask dance. Explore its chapels and statues, with an optional scenic village hike, before reaching Mongar Dzong, built in 1930 in enduring Bhutanese tradition.
Day 5
Mongar to Lhuntse
Travel through stark cliffs, gorges, pine forests, and remote fields to the royal family's ancestral region. Visit the monumental Guru Rinpoche at Takey La, enjoy lunch in Khoma weaving village, and explore welcoming Lhuntse Dzong's seven chapels before returning to Mongar.
Day 6
Mongar to Samdrup Jongkhar
A scenic drive through Kanglung, Khaling, Wamrong, and Dewathang, with roadside birdlife, wildlife, and a picnic lunch. Relax overnight in Samdrup Jongkhar at 250 meters.
Day 7
End of Tour
Departure from the Kingdom of Bhutan.
