Arrival to Samdrup Jongkhar from Guwahati

Day 1
A three-hour morning drive from Guwahati, capital of Assam, reaches Bhutan's border at Samdrup Jongkhar for immigration formalities.
Day 2
Ascend all day into the Himalayas. Receive a hermit's blessing, visit Zangto Pelri Lhakhang and its detailed murals, then discover Khaling's National Handloom Development Project. Visit the National Institute for the Visually Impaired, Draktsho East, Sherubtse College, and a temple in nearby Kanglung village.
Day 3
Begin at 17th-century Trashigang Dzong, then drive to Gom Kora, where Guru Padmasambhava left his body imprint. Explore old Trashiyangtse Dzong, Chorten Kora, and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, where young people keep Bhutan's traditional arts alive. Return to Trashigang in the evening.
Day 4
Detour to Dramtse Gompa, birthplace of the UNESCO-recognized Drums of Dramtse mask dance. Explore its chapels and statues, with an optional scenic village hike, before reaching Mongar Dzong, built in 1930 in enduring Bhutanese tradition.
Day 5
Continue west through rugged terrain on one of Bhutan's most spectacular mountain roads, climbing toward 3,200 meters. Pass the ruins of Sengor Dzong and cross remote forested landscapes toward Bumthang.
Day 6
Explore Jakar Dzong, Jambay Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang, Tamshing Lhakhang, and the sacred valleys at Bhutan's spiritual heart.
Day 7
Cross high passes and descend toward Phobjikha Valley, with stops at Trongsa's commanding dzong and panoramic viewpoints.
Day 8
Walk the Gangtey Nature Trail before continuing to Punakha, where two rivers meet beneath the great dzong.
Day 9
Travel over Dochula Pass, visit the capital's landmarks, then enter peaceful Paro Valley for the final chapter.
Day 10
Complete the pilgrimage hike to Paro Taktsang, celebrate the crossing, and transfer to Paro International Airport the following morning.
